EMDR Therapy
for Healing and Emotional Balance
Process difficult memories, reduce emotional distress, and move forward with confidence.
I provide in-person EMDR therapy in Brentwood, Tennessee, and telehealth sessions for clients throughout the state. If you’ve ever been curious about EMDR or wondered if it might be right for you, learn more below about how this approach works and what to expect in therapy.
What Is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based therapy proven to help people heal from trauma and overwhelming experiences. EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel as vivid, painful, or emotionally charged. Over time, those memories lose their intensity, and clients often report greater calm, focus, and control in their daily lives.
How EMDR Works
During EMDR therapy, we use gentle bilateral stimulation (such as guided eye movements, tapping, or sound tones) while you recall specific memories or emotions. This process helps your brain integrate and store those experiences in a more adaptive way.

As treatment progresses, the goal isn’t to erase the memory but to reduce its emotional weight and help you respond to life with greater stability and resilience.
What EMDR
Can Help With
EMDR is a highly effective approach for many types of emotional distress, including:

-
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
-
Complex or developmental trauma
-
Anxiety and panic attacks (learn more)
-
Phobias or fears
-
Grief and loss
-
Childhood or relational trauma
-
Distressing memories that feel “stuck”
What to Expect
Before beginning EMDR, we’ll spend time developing trust and stability. You’ll learn grounding and relaxation techniques to ensure you feel safe and supported throughout the process. EMDR sessions are carefully paced at your comfort level, and progress happens collaboratively, always with your goals in mind.
Integrated Approach
I have advanced training in EMDR and combine it with other evidence-based modalities, including:
-
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
-
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
-
Schema Therapy

Integrating these approaches allows therapy to be personalized to your needs and creates lasting, meaningful change beyond symptom relief.
